Greetings All:
Miss Rose is working on developing a website. However, this is something that I'm attempting for the first time. Any help on anything related to building my site is appreciated! BTW, it will have few...or no...graphics, no annoying flash content or any of the other things that make our screen readers go crazy! And just so you know...
I'm running the latest version of JAWS
Win XP
and have recently been convinced to start using Firefox.
So yeah, any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance! Oh, finally, it would be absolutely amazing if people could email tips/techniques to me, but of course, I'll be back to check this board often. The email address I want to use is strictly associated with my website, so it's not the one in my profile. Should anyone decide to email, send to:
nativerose@crimsonsoul.net
Much thanks!
NativeRose
For free tutorials on building a website google w3schools.
I'm using it right now to learn something about javascript.

Great! Thanks for the suggestion!
Maybe not mandatory, but whenever I'm done with an HTML file, I run it through the W3C validation service. Search W3c validator on google, and its the first result. Run your file through it and see what it pops up with.
W3schools has proven to be an awesome resource, and I'm doing well with the site thus far. Thanks for all of your input!
You seem to be doing fine already, but to be completely honest, your question is very vague.
W3 schools is a good resource, but what might actually be more helpfull to you is if you tell us everything you kno in relation to the complete process of taking your website from an idea to a propper live site and then we'll tell you if your missing anything.
try sending one of us a couple of pages if you have any then we could make suggestions how you might improve it. By the way, what is your website about?
I'm getting the hang of writing html code...it's actually really easy. However, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to change the color of text. And to answer the last poster's question, my site is largely self-help for people dealing with mental illness: depression (unipolar), bipolar disorder, self-injury, suicide, etc. They are serious topics indeed, but in my opinion, there can not be too many support resources for that sort of thing. I'm having a lot of fun creating it. I'm a writer, so creating and organizing the whole thing is totally my thing. Besides, I get to learn something new as I experiment with html. Anyway, I can't figure out how to change text color. Help? It's interesting to play with fonts and colors since I don't see at all, and I sure don't need that stuff, but I know it makes the site experience more appealing to sighted visitors.
less then sign body text equals quote blah quote.
Look into Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). They'll let you separate the content from how it is produced. For example you can identify your sections using the div tag and a class attribute, then use CSS to say that all titles should look this way, all article bodies another way, bylines a third way, etc.
